European Motor Studio is incredibly excited to offer this freshly restored, highly authentic 1973 Lamborghini Espada 400GT Series III. The Espada is finished in its original factory shade of Verde Metallizzato, perfectly period and paired with a Saddle leather interior and complimented by Brown Wilton wool carpets. 1219 Espada’s left the factory over a ten year production run and chassis number 9284 is the 965th Bertone bodied Espada rolling out of the Sant’Agata Bolognesa production line on August 25, 1973. The car was imported into the US and delivered through Lamborghini Inc NY where Bob Grossman of Nyack NY sold the car to the first owner.
Espada 9284 has just undergone a full tear down restoration back to its original factory color. The car was stripped down to a bare shell and the matching numbers 4 cam V12 engine was dismantled for a rebuild. The transmission and differential were also dismantled and rebuilt. All of the engine and undercarriage hardware was re-zinc plated. The radiator was sent out to be recored and the alternator, starter and water pump were all rebuilt. Both gas tanks were sent out for treatment and resealing. The undercarriage and engine bay was stripped and repainted and all of the suspension, steering and braking components in the car were disassembled and items were either replaced or they were sent out for stripping and re-powder coating, re-zinc plating and re-chroming. The Koni shocks were revalved/resealed and all new bushings were installed. Brand new factory brake boosters were installed and all new metal brake lines were fabricated, a new clutch and a rebuilt master and slave cylinder were installed. All new ball joints, control arm bushings and tie rods. A brand new Ansa exhaust was fitted and brand new Michelin XWX tires were placed on the freshly re-powder coated Lamborghini Campagnolo 5 lug wheels. Brand new body and interior seals were installed. The interior was completely removed from the car and was re-trimmed with correct factory perforations and pleats in each seat. The carpets are Wilton wool and the headliner was replaced and the dash was removed and re-trimmed in mouse hair. All of the gauges were removed from the dash and were bench tested, all new light bulbs installed and all of the wiring tested and repaired where needed. We tried to be as authentic as we could in this restoration back to factory spec.
We are Lamborghini enthusiast and passionate about these early V12 cars and this type of restoration is so rarely seen on any Espada. Accompanying the sale of Espada 9284 is the original tool roll with the original bag, the original jack and bag, a matching 5 lug Campagnolo spare with a correct Michelin XWX tire, an original Espada parts catalog and an original factory Lamborghini brochure. These truly special Italian thoroughbreds are rarely seen today, especially in such complete and authentic form.
